Edgar G. Engleman, MD, Professor, Departments of Pathology and Medicine, Division of Immunology and Rheumatology, Stanford University School of Medicine

Research Description: Dr. Engleman’s research has focused on studies of the role of different immune populations in the pathogenesis and treatment of cancers, including pancreatic cancer. Most recently, his group discovered a novel approach to the treatment of solid tumors in which myeloid immune cells in the tumors are armed and activated by tumor-binding antibodies in combination with immune stimuli. This approach overcomes the local immunosuppressive milieu and results in potent anti-tumor immunity that can eradicate tumors, including pancreas cancer, in mice.

Dr. Engleman has active research collaborations with PCRG members including Drs. M. Winslow, L. Attardi and S. Kim.
